My Dry Skin Cleansing Routine

My Dry Skin Cleansing Routine

As my skin is covered with makeup for at least 10 hours daily, exposed to external stresses like pollution and extreme indoor and outdoor temperature changes - when the time comes to remove my makeup at the end of the day, I can almost hear my skin sing HALLELUJAH.

I have combination to dry skin; dry because of the long hours under the air conditioner - my skincare routine, hence, revolves around hydration and calming.

I start off my day with the COSRX Low PH Good Morning Cleanser, a low pH cleanser which does the right amount of light cleansing without stripping the moisture off my face.

Up and about in my daily grind, sixteen hours later it’s finally time to wash off the layers of makeup which has settled into my pores together with pollutants, dust and oil. Swiping the junk off my face with two cotton pads soaked with micellar water, I’m still on the hunt for a holy grail but I like the gentleness of the Garnier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleansing Water on my face and pocket. I’m careful with removing the waterproof mascara, glitter, eyeshadow and eyeliner - I hold the soaked cotton pad (with Eye and Lip Makeup Remover) on my eyes for about thirty seconds, allowing the solution to do its magic in melting the stubborn makeup off my eyes. Ensuring that there is no residue left, I swipe it again with another cotton pad and target my water line with q-tips.

I go at my face with the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil to remove any remnants of makeup from my face and finish off with the ALGENIST Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser. I like how this cleanser is non-invasive and does not leave my skin with the feeling of tightness. The Algenist brand is rooted in biotechnology which uses alguronic acid, a powerful regenerative compound from microalgae which is rich in nutrients that helps to hydrate the skin. Coupled with Witch Hazel and Oat Amino Acids in the formula, it’s perfect for my acne prone, sensitive and dehydrated skin.

On days where I feel like my skin needs a more thorough “spring clean”, I’ll reach for the Shiseido WASO Soft and Cushy Polisher, a gentle facial scrub, or the Cowshed Calendula Refining Facial Scrub, an exfoliator which has Aloe Vera, Calendula and Rose Absolute Essential Oil. If not, I’ll opt for mechanical help and squeeze a blob of Omorovicza Cleansing Foam on my BeGlow TIA Sonic Skin Care System and allow the pulsations to circulate and effectively cleanse my face.

With every second after your face wash is a second worth of hydration being stripped - as soon as I get out of the shower I hydrate my face with the Institut Esthederm Cellular Water Mist. I swear by this mist - its ultrafine particles and it is said that it’s constituted of ingredients which is almost similar to the natural water particles in our skin layers. That allows the mist to be quickly absorbed by the skin and makes every particle worth it.

It might look like a really long list of steps, but once you get used to it, your subconscious will follow it through even when you’re at the brink of sleeping or dead drunk.
