Less irritating version of The Ordinary Vitamin C

Hylamide is produced by the same company as The Ordinary, a brand that's developed a cult following for its effectiveness and branding. I use The Ordinary 23% Vitamin C, which contains ascorbic acid. It's in a grainy cream format that feels a bit abrasive on the skin, so it enhances the slight "sting" from the strong vit C formation. That how I stumbled upon Hylamide: I was looking for an alternative to The Ordinary (and Paula's Choice 15% Vitamin C booster) and discovered that The Abnormal Beauty Company has a brand line-up of skincare. Hylamide is, by far, the best Vitamin C product out there: 1. It spreads like a dream on the face. It's light and absorbed quickly. It's not grainy like The Ordinary and plays well with other topical products you may possibly apply on your face. (The Ordinary 23% vit C tends to pill when mixed with thicker creams.) 2. It's not dirt cheap like The Ordinary, but it's one of the CHEAPER vit C products you will find out there with chemically sound formulation. (It's cheaper than Paula's Choice!) 3. The formulation is water free and uses ethylated ascorbic acid, so the product will not degrade or oxidize quickly. (TIP: Since the bottle is clear, always keep this in its box. Then keep the box in the fridge.) 4. It can be used twice daily without irritation (assuming your skin has already developed a general tolerance to vit C; if this is your first vit C product, you may want to go easy) One CON: Even if the vit C is stabilized in the form of ethyl ascorbic acid, the bottle should be opaque or tinted to reduce photodegradation. TIP: You should be doing this to all your serums and treatments, but this is especially important for unstable chemicals like vit C: Keep it in the fridge, so that it stays cool and in the dark.
